Located in "The Biggest Little City In the World," Reno, Nevada, American Internet's Data Center provides a premium hosting environment for hundreds of servers that are monitored 24/7 by experienced technicians. We are confident that our hosting environment will provide you with top Web site performance.
American Internet was created in September 1997 and initially housed Web servers in remote server co-location facilities in cities such as San Jose, San Diego and St Louis. When we grew and needed to further improve the quality of service the business provided its clients, American Internet decided it was time to bring the servers home and take full control of their care and feeding, in April 1999. We own and operate our own Network Facility in Reno Nevada. As the hosting business continued to grow, American Internet incorporated on Dec 10, 2000. As we keep on growing, we continue to improve our network, our facility, and our service to our clients.
Over time, we have learned what people look for in an excellent hosting company: fast and reliable connectivity to the Internet; precise and rapid technical support; affordable hosting plans; a complete selection of services, from first Web site to dedicated server clusters; and, fair business practices. We strive hard to provide all those factors for each and every client.
This dedication to you, the customer, continues as we add server co-location to our menu of services. American Internet continues its tradition of connectivity, support, affording pricing, a wide selection of offerings, and fair business practices to the server co-location market.

Location Details
Located at 4690 Longley Lane, Suite 34, American Internet leases 4,000 square feet of space for our office and two fully self-contained server rooms. One server room is set up exclusively for network equipment, while the other room houses our Web servers, customer-leased dedicated Web servers, and co-located servers. Our customers are everywhere; right next door, coast to coast, and on almost every continent on the planet. Each server room is protected by concentric-ring alarm systems and a network-based surveillance system, which can be viewed live, from anywhere in the world.
Network Monitoring
In addition to monitoring the movement of people throughout the data center, we monitor our equipment and network at the Network Operations Center (NOC). Our experienced NOC personnel utilize sophisticated tools to monitor network latency, packet loss, and service availability, responding immediately to resolve potential issues so that service is uninterrupted. These tools continually probe and test network resources to verify their availability and responsiveness. If a failure or degradation occurs, our monitoring solution automatically notifies administrators and initiates recovery procedures. The graph below is one of our current five minute graphs showing outbound traffic.

Server Details
Our production servers are housed in a dust free air-conditioned room. Each server is monitored 24/7 for load and vital processes. In an event something goes wrong we are notified immediately via pagers and e-mail.

Data Center Design
All power is delivered continually and consistently via our UPS systems. This system regulates the flow of electricity by conditioning all power and delivering it at constant levels to all servers and network equipment. This results in maximum uptime and optimum server performance. (Without conditioning, equipment in the data center would be subject to power surges. This causes electricity to enter your servers at a range of 115 volts to 122 volts. This continued fluctuation in electric power would decrease the life of our servers.) Our UPS system is backed up by a diesel generator. The diesel generator is tested for reliability every month and is capable of producing enough power to maintain the data center for weeks at a time.
With 26 Tons of Redundant AC ventilation and cooling units we can maintain the room temperature and humidity inside the data center at ideal levels. Relative humidity remains between 30-45% while temperature remains between 68-71F. As you can see by our graph below, we continuously monitor our current network room temperature.
Owning our own datacenter allows us to provide you with unmatched reliability and uptime; we are dependent only on on our in-house staff, not the staff of a co-location facility, to service and upgrade our servers. We fix problems before they become problems, so that your sites are available faster and more reliably than our co-located competitors.

In Case of Disaster
All our servers run on multiple hard drives; each server is configured with at least 3 drives at all times. Recovery from failures using redundant disk drives take minutes, instead of the hours needed with traditional tape backup systems. Having each system have its own backup disk system eliminates the single-point failure of backup systems using centralized storage array networks (SANs) or network attached storage (NAS). Data is backed up once a day, to two different hard drives in each server. The effectiveness of this system is reflected in the fact that we haven't lost an active Web site from any of our production servers for four years, and counting.
